Hello and welcome to my blog.... As a short introduction to myself, My name is Darren Humphrey and I reside in Southern Ontario Canada. I've been involved with American Bulldogs actively since 1997, but seeing as I've never considered myself a breeder and just plain hobbiest or fancier...where does it begin. I guess you could date it back to 1987, where I discovered the breed like most people back then, in the page (not pages) of Dogworld magazine....and there began the long quest, seeking knowledge along with the perfect dog, Meeting lots of folks around the world along the way.

Below you'll find some information on some of my dogs, pictures, pedigrees and a video parody near the end I made up the fall of 2005?

This is where I'm located in the grand scheme of things.

Tugnut's Cheeks

Cheeks comes from Tugnut's American Bulldogs in Ohio. She was Greg Shipmans pick pup from his RT x Sasha litter. Cheeks is currently 5 years old and has produced 2 litters. One litter with Tugnut's Teddy and her latest with Tugnut's Crank.

Cheeks runs on the medium-smaller side of the Johnson Standard, 21.5" tall at the withers and 82lbs, but has plenty of large dogs in her background and certainly throws them. She's can be an extremely active dog at times, keeping herself busy as her muscle tone will attest. By far one of the most muscled up dogs I've ever seen, when in peak condition. She gets along well with other dogs she's accustomed to and enjoys their company, but prefers her people as it should be....Very gentle and loving...This trait she inherited from her mother Sasha.

Tugnut's Crank

I picked up Crank from good friend, Greg Shipman of Tugnut's in Ohio, in 2002. Crank has always been a favorite dog of mine since he was a pup. "Easily excitable" would be a good term to describe his bursts of energy and to this day still acts like a puppy in many regards with his playful antics. He's one of those dogs that's always happy to see me, whether I've been gone all day or just a few minutes. Life to him, just can't get any better than to be by my side.

Crank is now 6 years old. He's 25" tall at the withers and has weighed a consistant 107lbs for the past 3.5 years running, but came in at 110lbs during this past years annual vet exam. Crank was xrayed at 33 months, clear of DJD...first time to a vets - he remains a healthy, vibrant and durable dog.

Although started late and only shown sporatically throughout the years in conformation, with very little training Crank has done well both in Canada and the U.S. picking up a bunch of 1st place ribbons, few best males and one BIS. Generally Crank has always placed in the top 3 amongst strong competition.....so long as he isn't DQ'd....for ummm...let's just say his spirited nature. His name is Crank...not Creampuff.

Crank is linebred on Watchdog Whitefang and/or son Valiant's Captain of Watchdog on his dam's side (depending how you want to read a ped).

I've come to the conclusion a person can actually have too many pictures of a dog...but seeing as I've yet to take that one shot that truly captures the presence this dog has in real life, the quest continues.
